About The Test
For all the joy and excitement that accompanies pregnancy, there’s often an equal amount of anxiety and apprehension. Concerns about labour pains, parenting capabilities, and the possibility of genetic conditions affecting the baby can weigh heavily on expectant parents. Mobile Drug & DNA offers a solution to alleviate these worries through our non-invasive Pregnancy Peace of Mind Test. This test, conducted using a standard medical blood sample, is 100% safe and does not involve the invasive procedure of amniocentesis.
It’s important to understand that, while this test provides valuable screening for 18 genetic conditions, including Down Syndrome, it is not a diagnostic test and cannot replace procedures like amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling. If the screening test yields a positive result, a diagnostic test may be recommended.
After conception, the baby’s DNA enters the mother’s bloodstream. Our scientists isolate maternal plasma from the blood sample provided by the mother. Within this plasma, both maternal and cell-free fetal DNA are analysed to determine the ratio of fetal chromosomes. An increased ratio of genetic material in relation to chromosome 21 indicates a positive result for Down Syndrome.
