Revolutionising DNA Testing Across Australia Mobile Drug & DNA Testing Services

FAQs

  • For most of our DNA tests, all you need is a sample collected using a mouth swab. The process is straightforward and painless, and our kits contain everything you need. Simply rub the swab on the inside of your cheek to collect cheek cells containing DNA. Then, press the swab into a special preservation card called an FTA card, which stores the sample for transport. Finally, send the FTA card back to our laboratory for testing.

  • A paternity test determines whether a man is the biological father of a child, which can have significant legal and personal implications. DNA testing is globally recognised as the most accurate method for establishing paternity. In Australia, it’s estimated that at least 1 in 5 men with paternity doubts have their uncertainty resolved through DNA testing.

  • Relationship tests assess the biological kinship between two individuals. These tests are particularly useful when a parent is unavailable for testing, so potential grandparents, uncles, or aunts may be tested instead. Results either confirm or exclude a familial relationship between the individuals.

  • Clients sometimes request forensic DNA tests to address issues like infidelity. Our laboratory technicians can analyse DNA from various sources you provide, including clothing with bodily fluids, hair samples with roots attached, toothbrushes, ear swabs, and nail clippings.

  • For your DNA test results to be legally admissible, it’s crucial to choose a laboratory accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). Legal DNA tests must meet specific criteria, including witnessed sample collection by an unbiased third party and verification of the identity of all applicants providing DNA samples. Identity can be established through photographic proof and two witness-signed passport-sized photographs.

  • Regular DNA testing, often conducted at home, does not meet the requirements for legal use in court. While home DNA tests are suitable for personal peace of mind, they lack the necessary procedures for legal admissibility.

Legal DNA testing, on the other hand, is accredited and requires clients to verify their identity with witnesses. The testing process includes detailed instructions for the third-party sample collector and witnesses. Both types of tests adhere to strict accreditation standards, with the only difference being the method of sample collection.

  • When family members needing testing reside in different locations, we accommodate by sending DNA test kits to any specified location. As a global company with offices worldwide, we ensure timely delivery from our nearest office. All kits include comprehensive instructions and can be provided in various languages for ease of use. Depending on the recipient’s location, appropriate courier and administration fees are added to the cost of the DNA test kit.

  • Australia, with its diverse population, sees immigration from every corner of the globe. Immigration is often driven by a desire to be with family or to seek better opportunities.

The immigration process can be complex, requiring individuals to prove biological relationships for visa applications. DNA immigration tests, such as paternity, maternity, sibling, or other biological relationship tests, may be necessary to support immigration claims.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection oversees immigration cases, and DNA testing must be conducted by a NATA-accredited laboratory. Applicants must provide a signed consent form allowing the laboratory to share test results with the department. All costs associated with the DNA test are borne by the applicant.
