DNA Testing Kits
DNA testing kits are designed to be user-friendly, allowing you to conduct the test from the comfort of your own home. Once you’ve chosen and purchased the DNA test that meets your requirements, it will be conveniently delivered to your chosen address. Inside each kit, you’ll find detailed instructions on how to use the provided materials and where to send your sample once the test is complete.
Most at-home test kits come equipped with everything you need, including mouth swabs, DNA imprint storage cards, individual envelopes, a prepaid return envelope, consent forms, and detailed instructions. All contents are sterile and ready to use; the swabs are individually wrapped and made of medical-grade material, which should be discarded after capturing the DNA imprint on the provided FTA card.
Using oral swabs for DNA collection involves simply rubbing the swab against the inside of your mouth. Then, press both sides of the swab firmly onto the designated area of the FTA card. Utilise the paper cover of the FTA card to assist in inserting the Foam Tipped Applicator into the card. Finally, place the labeled FTA card in the appropriate envelope and prepare to send your DNA sample off to be analysed in our accredited laboratories.

DIY DNA Kit
For clients seeking expedited testing or residing in remote areas inaccessible to postal services, a Do It Yourself (DIY) test kit serves as a convenient alternative. Below are the materials needed to assemble your own DIY DNA sample kit, along with step-by-step instructions for providing a sample.
Materials:
- 4 sterile cotton-tipped swabs per participant (available at pharmacies). If using double-ended swabs, remove one tip before collecting samples to prevent contamination.
- Paper envelopes – one for each participant to prevent cross-contamination.
Instructions:
- Prepare an envelope for each participant, clearly labeling the front with:

- Case Reference Code (provided at the time of order)
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Relationship (e.g., alleged father, child, etc.)
- Using the swabs, rub the cotton tip against the inside of your cheek, including the gums and behind the lips, for 10 seconds per participant. Utilise all 4 swabs for each person.
- Allow the swabs to dry for a minimum of 1 hour in a clean, dry area. Ensure the cotton tips do not touch any surfaces or each other. Once dry, place the swabs into the pre-prepared envelopes.
- Place all sealed smaller envelopes into a larger envelope. Remember to include your signed submission form in this envelope.
- For added security, it’s recommended to use a courier service or registered mail to ensure the safe delivery of your samples.
It’s important to note that a written consent form is essential for us to proceed with testing your samples. Please ensure that you print, complete, and include the Sample Submission Form when sending in your samples.
